I needed IV analgesics to manage the pain

When I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 10 in January of 2013, I had no idea of what chemotherapy was, or how it would affect me. I soon found out that along with nausea, fatigue, and pain, also came Mucositis, a severe form of mouth sores. The pain was so severe, that I couldn't eat or drink, and sometimes needed to be admitted to the hospital to receive IV pain medications to manage.

Since my diagnosis in 2013, I have experienced 5 relapses and been on various other chemotherapy treatments that induce Mucositis. As a signer, mouth sores that were in both my mouth and my throat especially got in the way in pursuit of my goals. Dr. Peter Anderson of Cleveland Clinic recommended I use a glutamine product made specifically made for oral mucositis, which instantly changed the game in the treatment of my mouth sores. I was able to eat, drink, and sing with much less pain, and even perform as leading characters in community theatre productions.

Mucositis is an often overlooked, but a very serious side effect of cancer treatments!
